The main use of calcined petroleum coke is the pre baked anode and anodic oxide paste commonly used in electrolytic aluminum plants, the production of carbon additives, graphite electrodes, industrial silicon and its natural materials in smelters in the carbon field.
1.DESCRIPTION
Calcined petroleum coke refers to the whole process of separating light and heavy oil from petroleum by extraction, and then heat cracking the heavy oil. From the appearance, coke is small black pieces (or particles) with irregular shapes and different sizes, which have a metallic texture, and coke particles have a porous structure. Calcined petroleum coke has its unique physical and physical characteristics as well as the characteristics of machinery and equipment. It is nonvolatile carbon, organic waste gas and mineral sediment with a part of heating, that is, sulfur, metal compounds, water, ash and other compounds. These specifications determine the physical characteristics of coke.
2.Types of calcined petroleum coke
There are many classifications of calcined petroleum coke. According to different production processes, calcined petroleum coke can be divided into delayed time coke, pneumatic conveying coke and kettle coke. In China, the primary type of calcined petroleum coke is delayed time coke, and the proportion of gas flow conveying coke and kettle coke is small. According to the different microstructure of calcined petroleum coke, it can be divided into needle coke and spherical coke. Needle shaped coke refers to the microstructure of cellulose or fibrous coke, which is characterized by easy graphitization and low linear expansion coefficient. Most of it belongs to high-quality coke and is generally used for low linear expansion coefficient coke in the industrial production of graphite electrodes. Spherical coke refers to the vast majority of coke in the microstructure, which is in the form of particles or bullet wheels.
3.Main uses of calcined petroleum coke
The main use of calcined petroleum coke is the pre baked anode and anodic oxide paste commonly used in electrolytic aluminum plants, the production of carbon additives, graphite electrodes, industrial silicon and its natural materials in smelters in the carbon field. Among them, low sulfur and high-quality cooked coke, such as needle coke, is mainly used in the production and manufacturing of extremely high output power graphite electrodes and some special carbon products. In the ironmaking industry, needle coke is the main raw material for the development trend of new technologies in electric furnace steelmaking; Medium sulfur, generally cooked coke, many of which are used for smelting; High sulfur and general coking are used in chemical production, such as the production of calcium carbide, carbon carbon composite materials, and also as natural materials for metal casting.
